Calming the Storm Within

Think about this…

You sink into your couch after a day at work.

Work deadlines looming in the coming days.

Family needs pulling.

The news blaring about inflation, government shake-ups, and a world spinning trying to get control.

Just as the day’s noise fades, your mind revs up.

It’s like a runaway train.

It’s racing with fearful thoughts…

What if I can’t pay the bills?

What if everything falls apart?

Navigating this pulsating-pace, multi-taking society can feel unbearable.

These whispers of fear can feel overwhelming.

It steals peace and paralyzes progress.

But the truth is-you’re not alone.

Your spirit is with you, and Positive Pulse Life is here to walk this path with you.

I’ve felt that storm.

After my bitter divorce, I battled self-doubt and anger.

My mind churning with fear about failure as a mom and professional.

When my two oldest daughters graduated and on their own, I had time to reflect.

But not having dealt with my inner anger led me to self-sabotage.

I resigned from my position and moved to a rural area.

It took the event of 9/11 that shook the world and my foundation.

I had to find peace and quiet the chaos within.

My move to Western New York helped me heal and rebuild.

Nature played an important role in my healing.

It was also with my daughters’ love I pulled through.

Today, in the middle of our society’s burst of changes, I’ll share how you can calm your fearful thoughts.

Reconnect with your spirit.

Find clarity, even when the ground beneath us trembles.

The Whispering Waves of Fear

Our modern reality moves at breakneck speed.

Work, family, endless obligations, and the constant ping of technology.

Current news amplifies distrust in governments and economic worries.

Fearful thought isn’t just common.

They’re a natural response to this storm.

They can distract us.

Drain productivity, and increase anxiety.

It stops us from living the balanced, intentional life we crave.

But fear doesn’t have to rule you.

It can be a signal, not a sentence.

A wave you can learn to ride.

Think of your mind as a vast ocean.

Fearful thoughts are crashing waves.

Stirred by the winds of inflation, social upheaval, and personal pressures.

Yet, beneath the surface, your spirit is there.

Your universal consciousness remains steady.

A calm current waiting to guide you.

The first step is to name the waves.

Ask: Is this fear real?

Is it emotion masquerading as logic?

Be honest.

Are you worried about losing your job because of economic shifts?

You can fact-check it.

Are there signs, or is it a story your mind’s weaving?

I’ve learned to name my fears.

Like the dread of failing my daughters.

It helps me see them as clouds, not the sky.

Anchoring in Your Wise Spirit

There’s a beautiful concept in therapy called the “wise mind.”

It’s rooted in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

It’s about finding that centered place where logic and emotion meet.

Helping you process fear with clarity.

According to research by Fassbinder et al. (2016), DBT emphasizes distress tolerance.

Skills to survive crises.

Accept what can’t be changed.

And self-soothe through practices like improving the moment.

Or adaptive distraction.

Your wise mind isn’t a distant guru.

No, it’s the quiet voice within.

Connected to your spirituality.

Whispering peace amid the chaos.

For me, that voice emerged in Western New York’s fields.

Where nature’s rhythm reminded me of my purpose.

When fear gripped me, I’d walk barefoot.

Letting the earth ground me.

Or sit by Lake Ontario watching the waves lap on shore.

You can tap into your wise spirit, too.

Pause.

Breathe deeply.

Ask: What would my calm, centered self say?

Maybe it’s a prayer to the universe.

A meditation on gratitude.

Or a simple affirmation: I am enough, even in uncertainty.

This anchor steadies you.

Turing waves into ripples.

Tending Your Support Garden

You don’t have to weather this storm alone.

Fear thrives in isolation.

But community blooms in connection.

Reach out to supportive friends, family, or professionals.

Never feel shame in sharing your struggles.

Emotions are the heartbeat of our humanity.

Sharing them can bring clarity and comfort.

After my divorce, I suppressed my fears and frustration.

I learned this was not healthy.

It led to self-doubt and self-sabotage.

That’s why I founded Positive Pulse Life.

It exists to foster community where you are heard, understood, and uplifted.

Smoothing the Ripples with Practice

Quieting fearful thoughts isn’t a one-and-done fix.

It’s a skill that grows with practice.

Start small.

When fears whisper, fact-check it with logic.

Is this fear based on evidence?

Or is it a story I can release?

Journal your fears.

Then write a counter-narrative.

“I’m resourceful. I’ve handled challenges before.”

Use adaptive distraction.

Take a walk, listen to birds sing, of sip tea mindfully.

Let nature’s pulse soothe you.

Over time, you’ll become calm, cool, and collected.

Transform fear into strength.

It’s not about erasing fear.

It’s about empowering yourself to face it head-on.

Each step builds mental toughness, self-reliance, and peace.

It helps you navigate life’s rapid-fire changes with intention.

After 9/11, I acted.

Not freeze.

I pulled myself from the trenches of self-doubt.

You can too, with your spirit as your guide and Positive Pulse Life as your ally.
